High Dependency Nursing Skills
COURSE DESCRIPTION
As patient acuity continues to increase, so to does the need for nurses skilled in caring for high-dependency patients. This two day workshop aims to assist nurses to further develop these more complex clinical skills. As deterioration or failure of these systems is the most common reason for admission to a high-dependency unit HDU), the key foci of high dependency nursing are respiratory and cardiac care. The workshop is divided into two days which can also be delivered individually if required.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
This is a two day workshop and covers two aspects:
- Respiratory assessment and care
- Oxygen therapy
- Introduction to mechanical ventilation
- Priorities in trauma care
- Cardiac assessment and monitoring
- Basic ECG interpretation
- Understanding your patient's lab results
- Care of the patien with arterial lines and central venous lines
